Royal Canal Dredging

This project involved the dredging of 15,000 m3 of material over a width of 5 m along a 5 km length of the Royal Canal in North Dublin using cutter suction dredging methodology.

  • Advanced pre-cleaning operation of the dredge zone
  • Installation of 3.5 km of floated 300 mm dia welded pipeline
  • Construction of a fully lined treatment facility with geotube dewatering
  • Implementation of silt mitigation measures and fish rescue plan
  • Dredging and pumping 15,000 m3 solids using specialist cutter suction dredger
  • Controlled re-circulation of pumped water into the Royal Canal
  • Segregation and disposal of inert and hazardous materials offsite
